Burn After Reading

Burn After Reading by Joel Coen and Ethan Coen

untitledWhat can you say about this movie? Hmmm… It’s an intelligent movie about stupid people. This movie has very big names as star cast. It has the ever charming George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The movie was intelligently executed. The caption Intelligence is Relative perfectly suits the film. The movie’s genre is dark comedy, a type like Dr. Strangelove. Many may not like this film, especially in India, but personally I liked the movie a lot. The highlight of the movie is the scene where Brad Pitt dies. The reaction is definitely the best comical reaction I have ever seen in my lifetime. On the whole the movie is definitely worth watching.

21 Grams

21 Grams by Alejandro González Iñárritu:

21 GramsThis movie may seem like a jigsaw puzzle. The screenplay will make you think. That’s the specialty of this film. You have to use your mind to arrange the scenes. According to me, it is one of the best made movies in Hollywood. This movie features Sean Penn (2 times Academy award winner). U can watch this movie for great piece of acting and some gripping emotional scenes. This is movie has been the inspiration for a Tamil movie Sarvam. This is a story which will work only if you say in a particular structure. In Tamil they actually missed the point.

As Good As It Gets by James L. Brooks

As Good as it GetsThis is a matured love story which stars Jack Nicholson who is my all time favorite. Who can forget his performance in “One Flew over Cuckoo’s Nest”? According to me he is totally different from other league of actors who were prominent in his days. In this movie, he is an old man who falls in love with a middle aged woman in her thirties. There is also a character of a painter in this film. Each of them have their own problems in life. As events unfold all the three main characters in the film take a trip together. The possessiveness Jack Nicholson has for Helen Hunt forms the comical portions in the second half. Some scenes are also emotional. The climax scene dialogue is definitely a highlight. On the whole you can watch out for some scintillating performances from Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt.

Scent of a Woman

Scent of a Woman by Martin Brest

Scent of a WomanThis movie is definitely a feel good movie. On the whole when you look at this movie this movie would be a normal movie with interesting scenes and normal climax. But what actually makes the difference is that the acting in the movie. Al Pacino’s acting makes the difference. After several nominations for Oscars he finally got it for this movie. The movie revolves around two characters. One is the student who comes to take care of Al Pacino during the weekend and the other is definitely Al Pacino who is a retired blind military man. They both set on a tour of thanks giving. The issues they discuss, the incidents that occur during the thanks giving tour, the problem the school boy faces forms the crux of the movie. Al Pacino’s acting is remarkable in some scenes where you feel the heat of the character. There are some movies where the acting will be good and content will not be so. But in this movie both the content and acting complements each other which makes the movie a must watch for all.
