MPM1. Kadal Karayiley (Sriram Parthasarathy) – Awesome start for the album. You will never want this to end. You will long for more. Achu has made a surprising choice of voice. You wouldn’t have expected Sriram Parthasarathy to sing for such a genre. But you would expect from now on.

2. MPM Anthem (Achu) – Not an Impressive one. But not a bad one too. Doesn’t stick to you as other songs in this album does.

3. Nerathin Neram Yellam (Narayanan Nagendra Rao, Chinmayi, Achu) – A Perfect Reciting of Lyrics. Just the way it has to be. The Music which follows the Lyrics is awesome.

4. Oh Baby Girl (Hemachandra, Achu) – You just have to feel the Groove once. It just makes you addictive. The lyrics are simple, interesting and impressive. The singing is too good. This song is the face of the album. If not for this song I wouldn’t have heard this album.

5. Yaaro Ivalo (Haricharan) – A Perfect Melody. Haricharan has done Full JUSTICE to the song. The Lyrics is by Actress Rohini

6. Yean Indha Dhideer Thiruppam (Achu) – It starts with a slow melody and followed by a perfect rock. The Electric Guitar usage is awesome. Moreover it is Original. Achu’s Voice is cool. Suits the mood.

7. Yen Uyirey (Karthik) – When Karthik is there, your expectation starts rising. Awesome song, Excellent Singing. But somewhere I feel Rahman in this song.

8. Yen Uyirey Reprise (Chitra) – My Personal favorite. Same song as above except for the voice.

9. Yen Uyirey Unplugged (Bombay Jayashree) – Same as above except for the Classical Flavor added to the original. Some parts gives you Goose bumps.

Overall Rating:- 4.5/5

Bottom-line:- Achu(Achu Rajamani) is a new talent to look out for. Must Hear Album.

Billa2early1. Gangster (Yuvan shankar Raja, Stefny) – Perfect intro for Billa. Instead of saying Yuvanish, I would rather say it as a YUVAN Genre. Pathos and Gangsta are Yuvan’s Home ground.  The words like Gangster, Monster adds flavor to the song.

2. Idhayam (Shweta Pandit) – Yuvan’s first try in a semi-classical genre. Really Works well. Addictive too. Shweta’s voice is mellifluous.

3. Yedho Yedho (Yuvan Shankar Raja, Tanvi Shah, Suvi Suresh) – Real Rocker of this album.. Took some time to grow on. But now it is too addictive. Just Bounce & Bounce.

4. Madurai Ponnu (Andrea Jeremiah) – Surprise. A Folk in Andrea’s Voice. Not a complete folk though. The usage of south indian instrument Thavil is prominent. Overall, The Song sounds cool and different.

5. Unakkule Mirugam (Ranjith) – It just sets Fire. Lyrics are just Out of the world. The song gives an “WILD” and “EVIL” feeling throughout. It has become my all time favorite.

6. Billa 2 Theme Music – More Intense than the earlier theme. The Tune doesn’t differ much. But you could easily feel a lot of difference.

Overall Rating – 4/5

Vazhakku Enn: 18/9

Vazhakku Enn 18/9 by Balaji Shaktivel

Vazhakku_Enn_18-9_Movie_PostersOne of the best movies I have ever seen in Tamil Cinema. This movie very real, raw and rustic. The screenplay is interesting. Two parallel stories are interwoven interestingly and clearly. Almost all are new faces in this movie. They have delivered very good acting. Especially the guy who played the Velu character is extraordinary. The music is apt for the movie. There are only two songs in the movie which helps the movie very much to maintain the pace. Thanks to Guitar Prasanna and Singer Karthik for trying out something new in the songs. There is no instrumentation in the songs when the vocals are on. Yet it gives an extraordinary feel. Cinematography is by Vijay Milton – A revelation with Canon 5D. I am not a big fan of Balaji Shaktivel – I did not like his movie “Kaadhal”. I haven’t seen Kaloori. But I respect his view in filmmaking. That is what made me watch this movie and I was not disappointed. Rather satisfied to the core. The climax brings you tears and satisfaction. The only negative point is the characters background vocal and the choice of actor who played Jyothi’s character. She is alien for a tamil servant maid. Rest all is perfect. Pls Don’t Miss this..

Dreams

Dreams by Akira Kurosawa

DreamsThere are people who can interpret dreams and the reason for such dreams. The extent of truth involved in this depends on one’s own belief. But here is one man who can make the world look at his movie with awe. The word “awe” has two opposite meanings, one is wonder and other is fear. Everyone will wonder how this man can make such a movie. There will also be fear among other film makers. There is not a single movie made till date in this genre. The feel, the emotions which Kurosawa brought out through this movie is unimaginable. But still this is my view on this movie. There are also people who don’t like this movie. They feel the movie is very raw. Of course it is raw. The movie doesn’t have only one dream. It has several dreams. A dream of a small boy, a dream of a captain, a dream of a painter, a dream of a demon, dream of mountain climber and few more. The movie also discusses social and environmental issues. Each and every dream was dreamt by Kurosawa himself. The movie is also technically rich. Kurosawa’s mastery in colors is evident in this film. Those who are lovers of good movies cannot dare to skip this. There is only one word which can describe this movie. “Beautiful”. Hail Kurosawa!!!

A Beautiful Mind by Ron Howard:

A Beautiful MindThis movie is Psychological thriller. Its about a mathematician John Nash played by Russell Crowe and the world in which he lives. Whenever the movie deals with some psychology, it will be very difficult to convince the audience. But this movie is very much convincing. This movie gives you some brilliant performances by Russell Crowe, Ed Harris and Jennifer Connelly. The movie is definitely a visual treat. It has won 4 Academy Awards including best picture and best director. Those who like to watch some good thriller drama go and grab a DVD or a Blue ray immediately. It’s definitely worth to buy and watch.

Amores Perros by Alejandro González Iñárritu:

Amorres PerrosThis is a very raw movie. This movie also has a very different screenplay. It is an anthology film which has three different lives meeting at a single point. When they meet the story rewinds to each of their lives. This movie’s screenplay has been an inspiration for an Indian movie Yuva. Both the movies are very well made. But Amores Perros scores in the field of reality and rawness. For those who want to see the real color of people and feel the real life of some people watch this movie.

Special Recommendation – Watch all Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu movies – there is always something new in screenplay. Some of his other movies are 21 Grams, Babel and Biutiful
